U

Upconvert

When a TV set receives a signal in which definition is lower than its own native definition, this is automatically adjusted to the native definition. For instance: if the signal has 480 lines and the TV set’s native definition is 1080 lines, intermediate lines will be added to display 1080 lines.

V

Video Component

For image broadcasts (Brightness and Color), the information on those attributes must arrive at the device where reproduction is made. In many cases we have different options for that purpose, and video component is one of those options, that uses three connectors called Y (green connector), Pb (or Cb or even B-Y; blue connector) and Pr (or Cr or even R-Y; red connector). The Y connector carries video information (black and white image - Brightness), while the other two connectors convey color information. Thus a superior image is reproduced to the one we would get using other connections such as S-video and composite video (composite RCA).
